The Believers (Al-Mu' minoon)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
۞ Successful indeed are the believers; 1 who are humble in their prayers; 2 And who keep aloof from what is vain, 3 and at almsgiving are active 4 Who guard their sex 5 Except with those joined to them in the marriage bond, or (the captives) whom their right hands possess,- for (in their case) they are free from blame, 6 So whoever desires more than these two – they are crossing the limits. 7 (Prosperous are those) who preserve their trusts and pledges 8 and who observe their prayers. 9 Those are the heirs 10 Those who will get the inheritance of Paradise; they will abide in it forever. 11 And indeed We created man (Adam) out of an extract of clay (water and earth). 12 Then We placed him as a sperm in a firmly established lodging; 13 and then We create out of the drop of sperm a germ-cell, and then We create out of the germ-cell an embryonic lump, and then We create within the embryonic lump bones, and then We clothe the bones with flesh - and then We bring [all] this into being as a new creation: hallowed, therefore, is God, the best of artisans! 14 Then after that you shall surely die, 15 and be resurrected on the Day of Resurrection. 16 And We have made, above you, seven tracts; and We are never unmindful of (our) Creation. 17 We send down water from the sky in determined measure, and store it up in the earth; and We have power to drain it away. 18 We grow orchards of dates and grapes from it for you, Which yield fruits in abundance that you eat. 19 Also a tree springing out of Mount Sinai, which produces oil, and relish for those who use it for food. 20 In the cattle, too, is a lesson for you. We let you drink of that which is in their bellies, and there are many benefits in them for you, and you eat of them, 21 and by them - as by the ships [over the sea] - you are borne [overland]. 22
