And the chieftains of his folk, who disbelieved and denied the meeting of the Hereafter, and whom We had made soft in the life of the world, said: This is only a mortal like you, who eateth of that whereof ye eat and drinketh of that ye drink. 33 So if you follow a man like yourself you will certainly be doomed. 34 What, does he promise you that when you are dead and turned to dust and bones, you will be brought forth? 35 ۞ “How remote, (really) how remote is the promise you are given!” 36 There is nothing but our present life; we die, and we live, and we shall not be resurrected. 37 He is only a man who has invented a lie about God, and we are not going to believe him!" 38 The messenger said, "My Lord, help me, for they have rejected me." 39 [And God] would say: "After a little while they will surely be smitten with remorse!" 40 A blast struck them for a just cause, and We made them look like withered leaves. God keeps the unjust people away from His mercy. 41 Then after them We brought forth other generations. 42 no nation outstrips its term, nor do they put it back. 43 We sent Our messengers one after the other but whenever a Messenger would come to a nation, its people would call him a liar and We would destroy one nation after the other, thus, only their stories were left behind them. God keeps the unbelievers far away from His Mercy. 44 Then We sent Moses and his brother Aaron with Our signs and a manifest authority 45 To Pharaoh and his establishment, but they were arrogant and were a haughty people. 46 They said, "Are we to believe in two human beings like ourselves, while their people are subject to us?" 47 So they denied them and were of those destroyed. 48 And We gave Moses the Book, that haply they would be guided; 49 And We made the son of Marium and his mother a sign, and We gave them a shelter on a lofty ground having meadows and springs. 50
