And the eminent among his people who disbelieved and denied the meeting of the Hereafter while We had given them luxury in the worldly life said, "This is not but a man like yourselves. He eats of that from which you eat and drinks of what you drink. 33 If you follow a mortal like yourselves you will certainly be lost. 34 What, does he promise you that when you are dead and turned to dust and bones, you will be brought forth? 35 ۞ Far-fetched, far-fetched indeed is what you are promised! 36 There is naught but our life in this world; we die and we live and we shall not be raised again. 37 He is only a man who hath invented a lie about Allah. We are not going to put faith in him. 38 He said, 'O my Lord, help me, for that they cry me lies.' 39 He said: In a little while they will most certainly be repenting. 40 Then the Blast overtook them with justice, and We made them as rubbish of dead leaves (floating on the stream of Time)! So away with the people who do wrong! 41 Then We raised up other generations after them, 42 No nation can live beyond its allotted time, or lag behind. 43 Then We sent Our messengers in succession. Every time there came to a nation its messenger, they denied him, so We made them follow one another [to destruction], and We made them narrations. So away with a people who do not believe. 44 Then We sent Moses and his brother Aaron with Our signs and a clear authority 45 To Pharaoh and his Chiefs: But these behaved insolently: they were an arrogant people. 46 So they said: shall we believe in two human beings like unto us, while their nation are to us slaves? 47 They called them liars and consequently were destroyed. 48 And We gave Moses the Book, in order that they might receive guidance. 49 We made the son of Mary and his mother a sign, and gave them a refuge on a hillside where there was a hollow and a spring. 50
