The chiefs of the people who did not believe and denied the life to come, though We had given them good things of this life to enjoy, (said): "He is only a mortal like you. He eats as you do, and drinks as you drink. 33 If ye were to obey a mortal like yourselves, then, lo! ye surely would be losers. 34 What! does he threaten you that when you are dead and become dust and bones that you shall then be brought forth? 35 ۞ "Far, very far is that which ye are promised! 36 There is no other life than the life of the world. We shall live here and here shall we die; and we are not going to be raised again. 37 "He is only a man who has invented a lie against Allah, but we are not going to believe in him." 38 He said, 'O my Lord, help me, for that they cry me lies.' 39 (Allah) said: "In a little while, they are sure to be regretful." 40 So As-Saihah (torment - awful cry, etc.) overtook them with justice, and We made them as rubbish of dead plants. So away with the people who are Zalimun (polytheists, wrong-doers, disbelievers in the Oneness of Allah, disobedient to His Messengers, etc.). 41 AND AFTER them We gave rise to new generations: 42 No nation can outstrip its term, nor can it put it back. 43 We then sent our Noble Messengers, one after another; whenever a nation’s Noble Messenger came to it they denied him, We therefore united the succeeding with the old, and made them history; so far removed be the people who do not believe! 44 Then We sent Moses and his brother Aaron with Our miracles and clear proofs 45 To Pharaoh and his Chiefs: But these behaved insolently: they were an arrogant people. 46 They therefore said, “Shall we believe in two humans like ourselves, whereas their nation is servile to us?” 47 So they denied them, and became of those who were destroyed. 48 We gave the Book to Moses so that perhaps they may have guidance. 49 And We made the son of Maryam and his mother a sign; and We sheltered the twain on a height: a quiet abode and running water. 50
