O Ye apostles! eat the good things and work righteously; verily of that which ye work I am the Knower. 51 And surely this your religion is one religion and I am your Lord, therefore be careful (of your duty) to Me. 52 But they cut off their religion among themselves into sects, each part rejoicing in that which is with them. 53 So leave them in their error for a time. 54 Do they think that because We have granted them abundance of wealth and sons, 55 have no other purpose except to help them in acquiring material benefits? No indeed. But they do not understand. 56 Surely those who live in awe of their Lord, 57 and those who believe in the signs of their Lord 58 Who do not associate any one with their Lord, 59 And those who give what they give (in alms) while their hearts are full of fear that to their Lord they must return, 60 to God, these are the ones who really compete with each other in virtuous deeds and are the foremost ones in the task. 61 And We task not any soul except according to its capacity, and with Us is a book speaking with truth, and they will not be wronged. 62 But their hearts are covered with confusion over this, and they have [evil] deeds besides disbelief which they are doing, 63 To the extent that when We seized the wealthy among them with punishment, they immediately began imploring. 64 Do not cry out for help this day, for surely you shall not be helped by Us. 65 "My Signs used to be rehearsed to you, but ye used to turn back on your heels- 66 and arrogantly mocked and reviled them. 67 Did they never ponder over this Word (of God)? Or has he (to wit, the Messenger) brought something the like of which did not come to their forefathers of yore? 68 Or is it that they did not recognise their Noble Messenger, therefore they consider him alien? 69 Or do they say that he is possessed? In fact, he has brought the truth to them, but most of them abhor the truth. 70 But if the Truth had followed their inclinations, the heavens and the earth and whoever is in them would have been ruined. Rather, We have brought them their message, but they, from their message, are turning away. 71 Or do you, [O Muhammad], ask them for payment? But the reward of your Lord is best, and He is the best of providers. 72 And indeed, you invite them to a straight path. 73 but those who disbelieve in the Everlasting Life deviate from the Path. 74 ۞ If We had mercy on them and removed their afflictions, they would still persist in their insolence, blindly wandering. 75 And We had gripped them with suffering [as a warning], but they did not yield to their Lord, nor did they humbly supplicate, [and will continue thus] 76 until We open before them a gate of harsh punishment and then they will be dumbfounded. 77
