O YOU APOSTLES! Partake of the good things of life, and do righteous deeds: verily, I have full knowledge of all that you do. 51 Surely this community of yours is one community, and I am your Lord; so fear Me.' 52 Yet they have split their affairs between themselves into sects, each rejoicing in what it has. 53 Leave them in their perplexity for a time. 54 Do they assume that the wealth and sons which We provide them – 55 We provide them with the means of competing with each other in virtuous deeds, but they do not realize this. 56 Lo! those who go in awe for fear of their Lord. 57 Those who believe in the Signs of their Lord; 58 and those who associate naught with their Lord 59 And those who give what they give and their hearts fear for they have to return to their Lord. 60 These people hasten to perform goodness, and it is they who shall reach it first. 61 And We task not any soul except according to its capacity, and with Us is a book speaking with truth, and they will not be wronged. 62 But their hearts are heedless of this. Moreover, there are other deeds besides this which they do. 63 Till when We grasp their luxurious ones with the punishment, behold! they supplicate. 64 'Groan not today; surely you shall not be helped from Us. 65 For when My revelations were read out to you, you turned back on your heels and fled 66 waxing proud against it, talking foolish talk by night.' 67 Pondered they not over the Word? or came there unto them that which came not unto their fathers ancient? 68 Or did you not recognize your Messenger and, thus, denied him (Muhammad) 69 Or do they say, 'He is bedevilled'? Nay, he has brought them the truth, but most of them are averse from the truth. 70 But if the Truth had followed their inclinations, the heavens and the earth and whoever is in them would have been ruined. Rather, We have brought them their message, but they, from their message, are turning away. 71 (Do they disbelieve because) you asked them for payment? The reward that you will receive from your Lord is the best. He is the best Provider. 72 And lo! thou summonest them indeed unto a straight path. 73 And verily those who believe not in the Hereafter are deviating from that Way. 74 ۞ If We had mercy on them and removed the distress which is on them, they would obstinately persist in their transgression, wandering in distraction to and fro. 75 And indeed We grasped them with punishment, so neither did they submit themselves to their Lord, nor do they cry humbly. 76 until We open before them a gate of harsh punishment and then they will be dumbfounded. 77
