“O Noble Messengers, eat good clean things, and do good deeds; I know all that you do.” 51 And lo! this your religion is one religion and I am your Lord, so keep your duty unto Me. 52 But people have cut off their affair (of unity), between them, into sects: each party rejoices in that which is with itself. 53 So leave them to their ignorance for a time. 54 Do they think that by what We aid them with of wealth and children, 55 We are hastening to them of good things? Nay, they do not perceive. 56 Surely those who live in awe of their Lord, 57 who believe in the verses of their Lord; 58 and who do not ascribe divinity to aught but their Sustainer, 59 and those who give to others what has been bestowed upon them with their hearts trembling at the thought that they must return to their Lord; 60 it is they who vie with one another in doing good works and shall be the foremost in doing so. 61 And [withal.] We do not burden any human being with more than he is well able to bear: for with Us is a record that speaks the truth [about what men do and can do]; and none shall be wronged. 62 On the contrary, their hearts are in neglect of this and their works are different than those of the believers, the works that they are doing. 63 Until, when We grasp those of them who lead a luxurious life with punishment, behold! They make humble invocation with a loud voice. 64 Cry not for succor this day; surely you shall not be given help from Us. 65 My communications were indeed recited to you, but you used to turn back on your heels, 66 Stiff-necked, discoursing thereof by night, reviling. 67 Have they not pondered the saying, or came there upon them that which came not upon their fathers, the ancients? 68 Or did they not recognise their apostle, and rejected him? 69 Or do they say that he is possessed? In fact, he has brought the truth to them, but most of them abhor the truth. 70 Had the truth followed their fancies, the heavens, the earth, and all who live in them would have surely been corrupted. No, We brought them their Remembrance; but from their Remembrance they turn away. 71 Or dost thou ask them for tribute? Yet the tribute of thy Lord is better, and He is the best of providers. 72 You are surely calling them to the right path. 73 But those who believe not in the Hereafter turn away from the straight path. 74 ۞ Did We have mercy on them, and remove the affliction that is upon them, they would persist in their insolence wandering blindly. 75 We struck them with torment, but they did not submit themselves to their Lord, nor did they make themselves humble 76 until We opened upon them the door of a severe chastisement. Then lo, in this state they become utterly despaired of any good. 77
