When your Lord called upon Moses: "Go to the wicked people, 10 The people of Pharaoh. Will they not fear Allah?" 11 'My Lord' he replied, 'I fear they will belie me 12 And my breast straitens, and my tongue is not eloquent, therefore send Thou to Haroun (to help me); 13 As for me, they hold the charge of a crime against me. I fear they will put me to death." 14 The Lord said, "Have no fear, both of you go with Our miracles. We shall closely listen to you." 15 "So go forth, both of you, to Pharaoh, and say: 'We have been sent by the Lord and Cherisher of the worlds; 16 let the Children of Israel go with us!'" 17 He said, 'Did we not raise thee amongst us as a child? Didst thou not tarry among us years of thy life? 18 "And you did your deed, which you did (i.e. the crime of killing a man). And you are one of the ingrates." 19 He said: I did it then while I was of those unable to see the right course; 20 Then I fled for fear of you. Then my Lord bestowed wisdom and authority on me and made me one of the Messengers. 21 Is this then the blessing with which you reproach me, that you have the Children of Israel for worshipers' 22 Firon said: And what is the Lord of the worlds? 23 (Moses) said: "The Lord and Cherisher of the heavens and the earth, and all between,- if ye want to be quite sure." 24 (Pharaoh) said unto those around him: Hear ye not? 25 (Moses) said: "Your Lord and the Lord of your fathers from the beginning!" 26 (Pharaoh) said: 'Surely, the Messenger who has been sent to you is mad!' 27 He said, “The Lord of the East and the West and all that is between them; if you have sense.” 28 [Pharaoh] said, "If you take a god other than me, I will surely place you among those imprisoned." 29 He said: Even though I show thee something plain? 30 Pharaoh said, "Show it then, if you are telling the truth!" 31 Then he flung down his staff and it became a serpent manifest, 32 And he drew out his hand, and it appeared [shining] white to the beholders. 33
