When your Lord called upon Moses: "Go to the wicked people, 10 "The people of the Pharaoh: will they not fear Allah?" 11 He said: My Lord! Lo! I fear that they will deny me, 12 And that my breast will tighten and my tongue will not be fluent, so send for Aaron. 13 besides, they accuse me of a crime, and I fear that they may put me to death." 14 (It was) said: "By no means. Go with My signs, both of you. I am verily with you and I hear. 15 Go to Pharaoh, both of you, and say, 'We are messengers from the Lord of the Worlds: 16 Let the children of Israel go with us!'" 17 [Pharaoh] said, "Did we not raise you among us as a child, and you remained among us for years of your life? 18 And yet thou didst commit that [heinous] deed of thine, and [hast thus shown that] thou art one of the ingrate!" 19 Musa (Moses) said: "I did it then, when I was an ignorant (as regards my Lord and His Message). 20 and I fled from you because I feared you. Then my Lord granted me wisdom and made me one of the messengers. 21 But the favour you oblige me with is that you have enslaved the children of Israel." 22 The Pharaoh asked, "Who is the Lord of the Universe?" 23 He said: The Lord of the heavens and the earth and what is between them, if you would be sure. 24 (Firon) said to those around him: Do you not hear? 25 He said: Your Lord and the Lord of your fathers. 26 (Pharaoh) said: Lo! your messenger who hath been sent unto you is indeed a madman! 27 'He is the Lord of the East and the West' said he (Moses), 'and all that is between them, if you could understand' 28 Pharaoh said: "If you take any god other than me, I will certainly make you one of those (who are rotting) in prison." 29 Said he: "Even if I should bring about before thee something that clearly shows the truth?" 30 The Pharaoh replied, "Bring it, if you are telling the truth." 31 Then he cast down his staff, and lo! it was a serpent manifest. 32 And he drew forth his hand, and lo, it looked white to the beholders. 33
