And recite to them the news of Abraham. 69 Behold, he said to his father and his people: "What worship ye?" 70 They answered: "There are some idols that we worship and are devoted to them with constancy." 71 He said: hearken they unto you when ye cry? 72 'Can they benefit you or harm you' 73 They replied, "But we found our fathers doing the same." 74 Thereupon, Abraham said: "Have you seen (with your eyes) those whom you have been worshipping, 75 and what your grandfathers worshipped 76 "For they are enemies to me; not so the Lord and Cherisher of the Worlds; 77 "Who has created me, and it is He Who guides me; 78 It is He who gives me food and drink 79 And heals me when I am sick, 80 “And He will give me death, then resurrect me.” 81 And Who, I hope, will forgive me my mistakes on the day of judgment. 82 Lord, grant me authority. Join me to the righteous ones. 83 “And give me proper fame among the succeeding generations.” 84 and place me amongst the inheritors of the Garden of Bliss. 85 "And forgive my father - for, verily, he is among those who have gone astray 86 and disgrace me not on the Day when people will be raised to life, 87 the Day when nothing will avail, neither wealth nor offspring, 88 Save him who bringeth unto Allah a whole heart. 89 And Paradise will be brought close for the pious. 90 And the Fierce Fire shall be made apparent unto the seduced ones. 91 It will be said to them: 'Where is that you worshipped, 92 Other than God? Can they save you or even save themselves?" 93 So they and all the astray were flung into hell. 94 and the hosts of iblis all together. 95 They shall say while they contend therein: 96 'By Allah, we were certainly in clear error, 97 "'When we held you as equals with the Lord of the Worlds; 98 It was nothing but the evildoers who led us astray. 99 Now we have no intercessors 100 “Nor a caring friend.” 101 (Alas!) If we only had a chance to return (to the world), we shall truly be among the believers! 102 Lo! herein is indeed a portent, yet most of them are not believers! 103 surely, your Lord is the Mighty One, the Merciful. 104
