And recite to them the tiding of Abraham 69 when he said to his father and his people, 'What do you serve?' 70 They said: We worship idols, and are ever devoted unto them. 71 'Do they hear you when you call on them' He asked. 72 or benefit you or do you harm?" 73 They replied, "But we found our fathers doing the same." 74 He said: "Have you considered what you have been worshipping, 75 You and your fathers? 76 "For they are enemies to me; not so the Lord and Cherisher of the Worlds; 77 Who created me, and He doth guide me, 78 and Himself gives me to eat and drink, 79 who, when I am sick, heals me; 80 He will cause me to die and will bring me back to life. 81 It is He whom I expect to forgive my sins on the Day of Judgment. 82 My Lord, give me Judgment, and join me with the righteous, 83 and appoint me a tongue of truthfulness among the others. 84 and make me of those who will inherit the Garden of Bliss, 85 and forgive my father, for he is one of those astray. 86 And do not disgrace me on the Day they are [all] resurrected - 87 the Day when wealth and sons will be of no avail, 88 [and when] only he [will be happy] who comes before God with a heart free of evil!" 89 And Paradise will be brought near to the Muttaqun (pious - see V. 2:2). 90 And Hell is brought near to the perverse' 91 It shall be said to them, 'Where is that you were serving 92 beside Allah? Can they be of any help to you, or even be of any help to themselves?" 93 Then will they be hurled therein, they and the seducers 94 and the army of satan will all be thrown headlong into hell. 95 They shall say while they contend therein: 96 By Allah, we have indeed been in an error manifest. 97 "'When we held you as equals with the Lord of the Worlds; 98 It was naught but the sinners that led us astray; 99 Now we have no intercessors 100 "'Nor a single friend to feel (for us). 101 “So if only were we to go back, in order to become Muslims!” 102 Indeed in this is a sign; and most of them were not believers. 103 And indeed your Lord only He is the Almighty, the Most Merciful. 104
