Tell them the story of Abraham, 69 When he said unto his father and his folk: What worship ye? 70 They replied, "We worship idols and shall continue to worship them". 71 'Do they hear you when you call on them' He asked. 72 Or do they benefit you, or do you harm?" 73 They answered: "No; but we found our forefathers doing so." 74 He said: 'Have you considered what you worship, 75 you and those ancient forebears of yours? 76 are my enemies? Not so the Lord of the Universe. 77 Who created me, then He has shown me the way: 78 And He Who gives me to eat and gives me to drink: 79 and Who, when I am ill, heals me; 80 He will cause me to die and will bring me back to life. 81 "And Who, I hope will forgive me my faults on the Day of Recompense, (the Day of Resurrection)," 82 My Lord! Bestow Hukman (religious knowledge, right judgement of the affairs and Prophethood) on me, and join me with the righteous; 83 give me a good name among later generations; 84 Make me inherit the bountiful Paradise. 85 "Forgive my father, for that he is among those astray; 86 "And let me not be in disgrace on the Day when (men) will be raised up;- 87 The Day whereon will profit neither substance nor sons. 88 except him who comes before Allah with a pure heart; 89 And the Garden shall be brought nigh to the God-fearing. 90 And the (Hell) Fire will be placed in full view of the erring. 91 It will be said to them: 'Where is that you worshipped, 92 besides God? Will the idols help you? Can they help themselves?" 93 So they will be overturned into Hellfire, they and the deviators 94 and the hosts of Iblis - all together. 95 And they, while contending therein, shall say: 96 "By God, we were most obviously astray 97 When we equated you with the Lord of the worlds. 98 "'And our seducers were only those who were steeped in guilt. 99 so now we have no intercessors, 100 nor any loving friend. 101 But if we could but once return, we would be of the believers. 102 Most surely there is a sign in this, but most of them do not believe. 103 Verily Your Lord is Immensely Mighty, Ever Compassionate. 104
