Tell them the story of Abraham, 69 when he asked his father and his people, "What is that which you worship?" 70 They said: we worship idols, and we are unto them ever devoted 71 He said: "Do they listen to you when ye call (on them)?" 72 “Or do they benefit you or harm you?” 73 They said: "Nay, but we found our fathers doing thus (what we do)." 74 Abraham said, "Have you really thought about what you have been worshipping, 75 you and your forefathers of yore? 76 Indeed, they are enemies to me, except the Lord of the worlds, 77 who created me; and He guides me, 78 He Who feedeth me and giveth me to drink. 79 And heals me when I am sick, 80 who makes me to die, then gives me life, 81 "And who, I hope, will forgive me my faults on the day of Judgment. 82 My Lord, bestow wisdom upon me; unite me with the righteous; 83 And appoint me a tongue of truthfulness among the latter. 84 and make me one of the inheritors of the Garden of Bliss; 85 And forgive my father; verily he is of the erring. 86 And disgrace me not on the Day when (all the creatures) will be resurrected; 87 The day when neither wealth nor children will be of any avail 88 Except him who brings to Allah a clean heart [clean from Shirk (polytheism) and Nifaq (hypocrisy)]. 89 On the Day of Judgment Paradise will be brought near the pious 90 and the Fire will be uncovered for those who strayed, 91 And it will be said to them: "Where are those (the false gods whom you used to set up as rivals with Allah) that you used to worship 92 besides God? Can they help you or even help themselves?" 93 Then they shall be pitched into it, they and the perverse 94 And the soldiers of Iblees, all together. 95 And they, while contending therein, shall say: 96 By Allah, of a truth we were in error manifest 97 When we equated you with the Lord of the worlds. 98 yet they who have seduced us [into believing in you] are the truly guilty ones! 99 So we have no intercessors, 100 no loyal friend. 101 Would that we could have a chance to live again so that we might become believers." 102 Verily in this is a Sign but most of them do not believe. 103 And verily thy Lord! He is the Mighty, the Merciful. 104

قراءة القرآن مترجماً إلى الإنجليزية أو أية لغة أخرى أشبه بقراءة كتب التفسير من قراءة ترجمات حرفية.
Reading the Quran translated into English, or any other language, is more like reading books of interpretation than reading literal translations.
