And convey unto them the story of Abraham 69 [how it was] when he asked his father and his people, "What is it that you worship?" 70 They replied: 'We worship idols and continue cleaving to them' 71 He said: hearken they unto you when ye cry? 72 Do they help or harm you?" 73 They said: "Nay, but we found our fathers doing so." 74 Thereupon, Abraham said: "Have you seen (with your eyes) those whom you have been worshipping, 75 "You and your ancient fathers? 76 “They are all my enemies, except the Lord Of The Creation.” 77 Who hath created me, and He guideth me. 78 "Who gives me food and drink, 79 and, whenever I am sick, heals me, 80 who makes me to die and then revives me, 81 And Who, I hope, will forgive me my mistakes on the day of judgment. 82 My Lord! Vouchsafe me wisdom and unite me to the righteous. 83 And ordain for me a goodly mention among posterity 84 And make me of the heirs of the garden of bliss 85 and forgive my father, for he is one of those astray. 86 "And let me not be in disgrace on the Day when (men) will be raised up;- 87 the Day when nothing will avail, neither wealth nor offspring, 88 except for him who comes to God with a pure heart. 89 And Paradise will be brought close for the pious. 90 And Hell is brought near to the perverse' 91 And it shall be said unto them where is that which ye were wont to worship? 92 apart from God? Do they help you or help themselves?' 93 Then they shall be pitched into it, they and the perverse 94 And the hosts of Iblis, together. 95 And they will say, when they are quarrelling therein: 96 By Allah, we have indeed been in an error manifest. 97 When we equalled you with the Lord of the worlds. 98 And none but the guilty led us astray; 99 “So now we do not have any intercessors.” (The believers shall have intercessors, the disbelievers none). 100 nor any loving friend. 101 If only we could return we would be among the believers." 102 Indeed in that is a sign, but most of them were not to be believers. 103 Your Lord is certainly Majestic and All-merciful. 104
