And recite to them the news of Abraham. 69 when he said to his father and his people, 'What do you serve?' 70 They replied, "We worship idols and shall continue to worship them". 71 Said he: "Do [you really think that] they hear you when you invoke them, 72 "Or do they benefit you or do they harm (you)?" 73 They said: nay; but we found our fathers doing in this wise. 74 He said: "Have you considered what you have been worshipping, 75 you and your forefathers of yore? 76 They are enemies to me except the Lord of all the Worlds 77 Who created me, and He [it is who] guides me. 78 Who gives me food and drink, 79 He who cures me when I am ill; 80 "And Who will cause me to die, and then will bring me to life (again); 81 And Who, I hope, will forgive me my mistakes on the day of judgment. 82 "O my Sustainer! Endow me with the ability to judge [between right and wrong,] and make me one with the righteous, 83 and appoint me a tongue of truthfulness among the others. 84 and make me one of the inheritors of the Garden of Bliss; 85 and forgive my father, for he is one of those astray. 86 and do not disgrace me on the Day when all people are resurrected, 87 the Day when nothing will avail, neither wealth nor offspring, 88 Save him who bringeth unto Allah a whole heart. 89 And the Garden shall be brought nigh to the God-fearing. 90 And the Fierce Fire shall be made apparent unto the seduced ones. 91 And it will be said unto them: Where is (all) that ye used to worship 92 Other than God? Can they save you or even save themselves?" 93 They will then be thrown into Hell with those who had gone astray 94 "And the whole hosts of Iblis together. 95 They shall say, as they dispute there one with another, 96 By Allah, of a truth we were in error manifest 97 "'When we held you as equals with the Lord of the Worlds; 98 It was naught but the sinners that led us astray; 99 We have no one to intercede for us before God 100 Nor any loving friend. 101 “So if only were we to go back, in order to become Muslims!” 102 Indeed in this is a sign; and most of them were not believers. 103 And indeed your Lord – only He is the Almighty, the Most Merciful. 104
