Tell them the story of Abraham, 69 When he said to his father and his people, “What do you worship?” 70 They said, 'We serve idols, and continue cleaving to them. 71 (Abraham) asked: "Do they hear when you call them? 72 or do they profit you, or harm?' 73 They said, "No, but our fathers worshipped them." 74 He said, 'And have you considered what you have been serving, 75 You and your ancient forefathers? 76 they are all my enemies, not so the Lord of the Universe, 77 Who created me, and He doth guide me, 78 and is the One who gives me to eat and to drink, 79 And when I sicken, then He healeth me, 80 and who will cause me to die and then will bring me back to life 81 Who, I hope, will forgive me my sins on the Day of Judgement." 82 [And he said], "My Lord, grant me authority and join me with the righteous. 83 And appoint me a tongue of truthfulness among the latter. 84 Make me inherit the bountiful Paradise. 85 And forgive my father. Indeed, he has been of those astray. 86 and disgrace me not on the Day when people will be raised to life, 87 The day when wealth and sons avail not (any man) 88 Save him who bringeth unto Allah a whole heart. 89 (On that Day) the Garden will be brought near to the God-fearing, 90 and Hell advanced for the perverse. 91 It shall be said to them, 'Where is that you were serving 92 Other than God? Can they save you or even save themselves?" 93 Then the idols and those who strayed will be hurled into the Fire headlong, one upon another, 94 And the soldiers of Iblees, all together. 95 And they will say while they dispute with one another, 96 "'By Allah, we were truly in an error manifest, 97 when we made you equal with the Lord of the Worlds. 98 It was naught but the sinners that led us astray; 99 We have no one to intercede for us before God 100 Nor any loving friend. 101 (Alas!) If we only had a chance to return (to the world), we shall truly be among the believers! 102 Most surely there is a sign in this, but most of them do not believe. 103 And verily thy Lord is He, the Exalted in Might, Most Merciful. 104
