And recite to them the story of Ibrahim. 69 when he asked his father and his people: "What do you worship?" 70 They replied: "We worship idols and are devoted to them." 71 He said, “Do they hear you when you call?” 72 “Or do they benefit you or harm you?” 73 They said, 'Nay, but we found our fathers so doing.' 74 (Abraham) said, "Do you know that what you worship 75 "You and your ancient fathers? 76 Verily they are an enemy unto me, save the Lord of the worlds. 77 who created me. It is He who guides me; 78 And it is He who feeds me and gives me drink. 79 And when I sicken, then He healeth me, 80 And He Who shall cause me to die, and then shall quicken me. 81 “And the One Who, upon Whom I pin my hopes, will forgive me my mistakes on the Day of Judgement.” 82 (And then Abraham prayed): "My Lord, endow me with knowledge and wisdom and join me with the righteous, 83 and appoint me a tongue of truthfulness among the others. 84 "Make me one of the inheritors of the Garden of Bliss; 85 And forgive my father, for surely he is of those who have gone astray; 86 And do not disgrace me on the Day they are [all] resurrected - 87 “The day when neither wealth will benefit nor will sons.” 88 Unless it be he, who shall bring unto Allah a whole heart, 89 For, [on that Day,] paradise will be brought within sight of the God-conscious, 90 And Hellfire will be brought forth for the deviators, 91 they will be asked, "Where are those whom you worshipped 92 Beside Allah? Can they succour you or succour themselves? 93 Then they will be thrown on their faces into the (Fire), They and the Ghawun (devils, and those who were in error). 94 And the hosts of Iblis, together. 95 They shall say while they contend therein: 96 By Allah, we were truly in a manifest error, 97 when we considered you equal to the Lord of the Universe. 98 It was naught but the sinners that led us astray; 99 And now we have none to intercede for us, 100 Nor any sincere friend. 101 Were there for us a return, we would be of the believers. 102 Surely in that is a sign, yet most of them are not believers. 103 Your Lord is certainly Majestic and All-merciful. 104
