And recite to them the story of Ibrahim (Abraham). 69 when he said to his father and his people, 'What do you serve?' 70 They said: We worship idols, so we shall be their votaries. 71 Said he: "Do [you really think that] they hear you when you invoke them, 72 or do they cause you any benefit or harm?" 73 They said: "Nay, but we found our fathers doing thus (what we do)." 74 He said, 'And have you considered what you have been serving, 75 and what your grandfathers worshipped 76 "Verily! They are enemies to me, save the Lord of the 'Alamin (mankind, jinns and all that exists); 77 Who created me, and He doth guide me, 78 And Who feedeth me and watereth me. 79 and Who, when I am ill, heals me; 80 He who will cause me to die and bring me back to life; 81 and whom I am eager shall forgive me my sins on the Day of Recompense' 82 "O my Sustainer! Endow me with the ability to judge [between right and wrong,] and make me one with the righteous, 83 give me a good name among later generations; 84 and make me one of the inheritors of the Garden of Bliss; 85 and forgive my father, for he is one of those astray. 86 “And do not disgrace me on the day when everyone will be raised.” 87 "The Day whereon neither wealth nor sons will avail, 88 Except him who comes to Allah with a heart free (from evil). 89 When Paradise shall be brought near to the God-fearing 90 And hell will be revealed for the astray. 91 And it shall be said to them: Where are those that you used to worship; 92 apart from God? Do they help you or help themselves?' 93 Then they shall be hurled therein, they and the seduced ones. 94 And the whole hosts of Iblis (Satan) together. 95 "Quarrelling therein with each other, 96 they will say, "By God, we were in clear error 97 "'When we held you as equals with the Lord of the Worlds; 98 “And none misled us but the guilty.” 99 We have no intercessors now, 100 "'Nor a single friend to feel (for us). 101 O that we might return again, and be among the believers!' 102 Verily in this is a Sign but most of them do not believe. 103 And most surely your Lord is the Mighty, the Merciful. 104
