And rehearse to them (something of) Abraham's story. 69 When he said unto his father and his people: what worship ye? 70 They said, 'We serve idols, and continue cleaving to them. 71 He asked: "Do they hear you when you call them 72 Or do they profit you or cause you harm? 73 They said: nay; but we found our fathers doing in this wise. 74 He said: "Do you observe that which you have been worshipping, 75 you and your fathers, the elders? 76 They are enemies to me except the Lord of all the Worlds 77 who created me, and Himself guides me, 78 And it is He who feeds me and gives me drink. 79 and when I fall ill, is the One who restores me to health, 80 And Who causeth me to die, then giveth me life (again), 81 “And the One Who, upon Whom I pin my hopes, will forgive me my mistakes on the Day of Judgement.” 82 My Lord, bestow wisdom upon me; unite me with the righteous; 83 and grant me the power to convey the truth unto those who will come after me, 84 and make me of those who will inherit the Garden of Bliss, 85 “And forgive my father* – he is indeed astray.” (His paternal uncle) 86 and do not put me to shame on the Day when all shall be raised from the dead: 87 The Day when there will not benefit [anyone] wealth or children 88 “Except he who presented himself before Allah, with a sound* heart.” (Intact or unblemished.) 89 And the garden shall be brought near for those who guard (against evil), 90 And Hellfire will be brought forth for the deviators, 91 And it will be said to them: "Where are those (the false gods whom you used to set up as rivals with Allah) that you used to worship 92 "'Besides Allah? Can they help you or help themselves?' 93 So they shall be thrown down into it, they and the erring ones, 94 And the hosts of the Shaitan, all. 95 They will say while contending therein, 96 “By oath of Allah, we were indeed in open error.” 97 When We held you (false gods) as equals (in worship) with the Lord of the 'Alamin (mankind, jinns and all that exists); 98 It was naught but the sinners that led us astray; 99 “So now we do not have any intercessors.” (The believers shall have intercessors, the disbelievers none). 100 Nor any sincere friend. 101 Oh, that we had another turn (on earth), that we might be of the believers! 102 Indeed in this is a sign; and most of them were not believers. 103 And most surely your Lord is the Mighty, the Merciful. 104
