Relate the news of Abraham to them. 69 He said to his father and to his nation: 'What do you worship' 70 They said: We worship idols, so we shall be their votaries. 71 He asked them, "Can the idols hear you when you pray to them 72 "Or do you good or harm?" 73 They said, "No, but our fathers worshipped them." 74 (Abraham) said, "Do you know that what you worship 75 you and those ancient forebears of yours? 76 "For they are enemies to me; not so the Lord and Cherisher of the Worlds; 77 who has created me and is the One who guides me, 78 And Who feedeth me and watereth me. 79 and, whenever I am sick, heals me, 80 who makes me to die and then revives me, 81 Who, I hope, will forgive me my sins on the Day of Judgement." 82 "O my Lord! bestow wisdom on me, and join me with the righteous; 83 And grant me a reputation of honor among later generations. 84 And place me among the inheritors of the Garden of Pleasure. 85 and forgive my father, for he was among the astray. 86 "And let me not be in disgrace on the Day when (men) will be raised up;- 87 on the Day of Judgment when neither wealth nor children will be of any benefit 88 But only one who comes to Allah with a sound heart." 89 And Paradise will be brought close for the pious. 90 And Hellfire will be brought forth for the deviators, 91 And it will be said to them: "Where are those (the false gods whom you used to set up as rivals with Allah) that you used to worship 92 Besides Allah? Can they help you or yet help themselves? 93 So they shall be thrown down into it, they and the erring ones, 94 And all the armies of Iblis. (Satan) 95 They shall say while they contend therein: 96 "By God, we were plainly in error 97 when we made you equal with the Lord of the Universe. 98 And none has brought us into error except the Mujrimun [Iblis (Satan) and those of human beings who commit crimes, murderers, polytheists, oppressors, etc.]. 99 Now we have no intercessors, 100 “Nor a caring friend.” 101 If we could only return to the world and be among the believers." 102 Indeed in this is a sign; and most of them were not believers. 103 And verily, your Lord! He is truly the All-Mighty, the Most Merciful. 104
