Tell them the story of Abraham, 69 When he said to his father and his people: What do you worship? 70 They said: We worship idols, so we shall be their votaries. 71 He said: Do they hear you when ye cry? 72 or do they profit you, or harm?' 73 They said: "Nay, but we found our fathers doing thus (what we do)." 74 He said: "Do you observe that which you have been worshipping, 75 you, and your elderly fathers? 76 Surely they are enemies to me, but not (so) the Lord of the worlds; 77 Who created me, and He doth guide me, 78 And it is He who feeds me and gives me drink. 79 "And when I am ill, it is He Who cures me; 80 And Who causeth me to die, then giveth me life (again), 81 And He Who, I long, shall forgive me my faults, on the Day of Requital. 82 My Lord! Bestow Hukman (religious knowledge, right judgement of the affairs and Prophethood) on me, and join me with the righteous; 83 "Grant me honourable mention on the tongue of truth among the latest (generations); 84 And make me of the heirs of the garden of bliss 85 "Forgive my father, for that he is among those astray; 86 and do not put me to shame on the Day when all shall be raised from the dead: 87 the Day when nothing will avail, neither wealth nor offspring, 88 except for him who comes to God with a pure heart. 89 And the garden shall be brought near for those who guard (against evil), 90 And Hell made visible to those who had gone astray. 91 They will be asked: "Where are those you worshipped 92 Instead of Allah? Can they help you or help themselves? 93 Then the idols and those who strayed will be hurled into the Fire headlong, one upon another, 94 And the whole hosts of Iblis (Satan) together. 95 "They will say there in their mutual bickerings: 96 "By Allah, we were indeed in manifest error 97 when we made you equal with the Lord of the Universe. 98 And none led us astray except the culprits. 99 and we have no intercessors now, 100 nor do we have a truly sincere friend. 101 Then if we only had a return [to the world] and could be of the believers... " 102 Verily there is a sign in this, but many of them do not believe. 103 Surely, Your Lord is the Almighty, the Most Merciful. 104

When reading the Colorful Quran in English transliterated Arabic mode, you may not notice that there is an algorithm designed to match the pause requirements of the original Arabic scripture, (waqf signs). As you may know, the original Arabic Quran has five main types of pauses, (waqf) signs. (1) Compulsory break, where the transliteration uses a full stop. (2) Optional pause with the preference for pausing, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a probability of two thirds. (3) Optional stop with an equal preference for pausing and resuming, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a half-half probability. (4) Optional pause with the preference for resuming, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a chance of one third. (5) Attraction pause, also called hugging, or (mu’anaka) sign, where it is compulsory to pause at either one of two nearby positions, but not both; where the transliteration inserts a comma at either one of the two locations with a half-half probability.
