And recite to them the tiding of Abraham 69 when he asked his father and others, "What do you worship?" 70 They replied: "We worship idols and are devoted to them." 71 He asked, "Do they hear you when you call to them? 72 "Or do they benefit you or do they harm (you)?" 73 They said, "No, but our fathers worshipped them." 74 He said: See now that which ye worship, 75 "Ye and your fathers before you?- 76 They are an enemy to me, except the Lord of all Being 77 “The One Who created me, so He will guide me.” 78 and is the One who gives me to eat and to drink, 79 He who cures me when I am ill; 80 "Who will cause me to die, and then to life (again); 81 "And Who, I hope will forgive me my faults on the Day of Recompense, (the Day of Resurrection)," 82 "O my Sustainer! Endow me with the ability to judge [between right and wrong,] and make me one with the righteous, 83 and appoint me a tongue of truthfulness among the others. 84 And place me among the inheritors of the Garden of Pleasure. 85 and forgive my father, for he was among the astray. 86 “And do not disgrace me on the day when everyone will be raised.” 87 the Day when nothing will avail, neither wealth nor offspring, 88 "But only he (will prosper) that brings to Allah a sound heart; 89 And the Garden will be brought nigh for those who ward off (evil). 90 whereas the blazing fire will be laid open before those who had been lost in grievous error; 91 It will be said to them: 'Where is that you worshipped, 92 Instead of Allah? Can they help you or help themselves? 93 Then will they be hurled therein, they and the seducers 94 And the whole hosts of Iblis (Satan) together. 95 And they will say, when they are quarrelling therein: 96 “By oath of Allah, we were indeed in open error.” 97 when we considered you equal to the Lord of the Universe. 98 It was the evildoers who led us astray, 99 Now we have no intercessors, 100 Nor a close friend (to help us). 101 O that we might return again, and be among the believers!' 102 Verily there is a sign in this, but many of them do not believe. 103 And lo, thy Lord! He is indeed the Mighty, the Merciful. 104
