And recite unto them the story of Ibrahim. 69 when he asked his father and his people, "What is that which you worship?" 70 They said, “We worship idols, and we keep squatting in seclusion before them.” 71 He said: "Do they hear you, when you call (on them)? 72 Or do they profit you or cause you harm? 73 They said: "No. But we found our fathers doing so." 74 He said: Have you then considered what you have been worshipping: 75 You and your ancient forefathers? 76 they are all my enemies, not so the Lord of the Universe, 77 He created me and He will guide me. 78 Who gives me food and drink, 79 He who cures me when I am ill; 80 He who will cause me to die and bring me back to life; 81 And who, I hope, will condone my faults on the Day of Judgement. 82 My Lord: Grant me wisdom, and join me with the good 83 give me a good name among later generations; 84 and place me amongst the inheritors of the Garden of Bliss. 85 And forgive my father; verily he is of the erring. 86 "And let me not be in disgrace on the Day when (men) will be raised up;- 87 the Day when nothing will avail, neither wealth nor offspring, 88 Except him who brings to Allah a clean heart [clean from Shirk (polytheism) and Nifaq (hypocrisy)]. 89 And Paradise shall be brought forward for the godfearing, 90 And the (Hell) Fire will be placed in full view of the erring. 91 And it shall be said unto them where is that which ye were wont to worship? 92 besides God? Will the idols help you? Can they help themselves?" 93 Then the idols and those who strayed will be hurled into the Fire headlong, one upon another, 94 And all the armies of Iblis. (Satan) 95 They will dispute between themselves therein, and will say, 96 "By Allah, we were indeed in manifest error 97 “When we considered you equal to the Lord Of The Creation.” 98 “And none misled us but the guilty.” 99 and now we have none to intercede on our behalf, 100 and no sincere friend. 101 Would that we had a second chance [in life,] so that we could be among the believers!" 102 Verily herein is a sign, but most of them are not believers. 103 And verily thy Lord is He, the Exalted in Might, Most Merciful. 104
