And recite to them the tiding of Abraham 69 [how it was] when he asked his father and his people, "What is it that you worship?" 70 They replied: 'We worship idols and continue cleaving to them' 71 He said: Do they hear you when you call? 72 or benefit you or do you harm?" 73 They said, 'Nay, but we found our fathers so doing.' 74 Thereupon, Abraham said: "Have you seen (with your eyes) those whom you have been worshipping, 75 "You and your ancient fathers? 76 “They are all my enemies, except the Lord Of The Creation.” 77 who created me; and He guides me, 78 and is the One who gives me to eat and to drink, 79 and heals me when I am sick. 80 and who will cause me to die and then will bring me back to life 81 “And the One Who, upon Whom I pin my hopes, will forgive me my mistakes on the Day of Judgement.” 82 My Lord! Vouchsafe me wisdom and unite me to the righteous. 83 And appoint me a tongue of truthfulness among the latter. 84 "Make me one of the inheritors of the Garden of Bliss; 85 "Forgive my father, for that he is among those astray; 86 “And do not disgrace me on the day when everyone will be raised.” 87 the day when neither wealth nor sons shall profit 88 But only one who comes to Allah with a sound heart." 89 "To the righteous, the Garden will be brought near, 90 and hell will be left open for the rebellious ones 91 who will be asked, "What did you worship 92 Other than God? Can they save you or even save themselves?" 93 "Then they will be thrown headlong into the (Fire),- they and those straying in Evil, 94 And the whole hosts of Iblis (Satan) together. 95 And there and then, blaming one another, they [who had grievously sinned in life] will exclaim: 96 they will say, "By God, we were in clear error 97 when we made you equal with the Lord of all Being. 98 "'And our seducers were only those who were steeped in guilt. 99 So we have no intercessors, 100 Nor any loving friend. 101 Then if we only had a return [to the world] and could be of the believers... " 102 Indeed in this is a sign; and most of them were not believers. 103 Surely thy Lord, He is the All-mighty, the All-compassionate. 104
