And recite to them the news of Abraham, 69 when he asked his father and his people, "What is that which you worship?" 70 They said, "We worship idols and will continue to cling to them." 71 He said: hearken they unto you when ye cry? 72 “Or do they benefit you or harm you?” 73 They exclaimed: But we found our forefathers doing the same!" 74 He said: "Have you considered what you have been worshipping, 75 you and your forefathers -- 76 They are an enemy to me, except the Lord of all Being 77 Who hath created me, and He guideth me. 78 and is the One who gives me to eat and to drink, 79 And when I am sick, then He restores me to health 80 Who will make me die, then give me life again, 81 and whom I am eager shall forgive me my sins on the Day of Recompense' 82 “My Lord, bestow me the command and join me with those who deserve your proximity.” 83 and grant me the power to convey the truth unto those who will come after me, 84 and make me of those who will inherit the Garden of Bliss, 85 Forgive my father. He has gone astray. 86 And humiliate me not on the Day whereon people shall be raised. 87 The day on which property will not avail, nor sons 88 "But only he (will prosper) that brings to Allah a sound heart; 89 When Paradise shall be brought near to the God-fearing 90 And the hell shall be made manifest to the erring ones, 91 And it will be said to them, "Where are those you used to worship 92 besides God? Will the idols help you? Can they help themselves?" 93 The idol worshippers, the idols, the rebellious ones, 94 and the hosts of iblis all together. 95 And they will say, and they will be quarrelling in it: 96 "By Allah, we were indeed in manifest error 97 When we equalled you with the Lord of the worlds. 98 "'And our seducers were only those who were steeped in guilt. 99 Now we have no intercessors, 100 Nor a close friend (to help us). 101 If only we could return and be among the believers!" 102 Verily herein is a sign, but most of them are not believers. 103 Surely thy Lord, He is the All-mighty, the All-compassionate. 104
