And recite unto them the story of Ibrahim. 69 when he said to his father and his people, 'What do you serve?' 70 They said: We worship idols, and are ever devoted unto them. 71 He asked: "Do they hear you when you call them 72 Or do they benefit you, or do you harm?" 73 They said, "In fact we found our forefathers doing likewise." 74 He said: "Do ye then see whom ye have been worshipping,- 75 "You and your ancient fathers? 76 They are all enemies to me; all, except the Lord of the Universe 77 "The One Who created me, so He will guide me." 78 and is the One who gives me to eat and to drink, 79 and Who, when I am ill, heals me; 80 who makes me to die and then revives me, 81 and who, [hope, will forgive me my faults on Judgment Day! 82 My Lord! Vouchsafe me wisdom and unite me to the righteous. 83 And uphold my name with posterity, 84 And place me among the inheritors of the Garden of Delight, 85 and forgive my father; for he is one of the misguided; 86 and do not disgrace me on the Day when all people are resurrected, 87 The Day when neither wealth nor sons shall benefit 88 "Except he who presented himself before Allah, with a sound intact or unblemished heart." 89 On the Day of Judgment Paradise will be brought near the pious 90 and Hell shall be revealed to the misguided, 91 they will be asked, "Where are those whom you worshipped 92 other than Allah? Do they help you or even help themselves' 93 Then they shall be hurled therein, they and the seduced ones. 94 and Satan's legions, all together. 95 There they will quarrel with one another and the erring ones will say (to their deities): 96 By Allah, of a truth we were in error manifest 97 When we equalled you with the Lord of the worlds. 98 And none but the guilty led us astray; 99 "So now we do not have any intercessors." 100 "Nor a caring friend." 101 Would that we had a second chance [in life,] so that we could be among the believers!" 102 Verily! In this is indeed a sign, yet most of them are not believers. 103 And most surely your Lord is the Mighty, the Merciful. 104
