And convey unto them the story of Abraham 69 When he said unto his father and his people: what worship ye? 70 They replied, "We worship idols and shall continue to worship them". 71 He said: hearken they unto you when ye cry? 72 “Or do they benefit you or harm you?” 73 They said: "Nay, but we found our fathers doing thus (what we do)." 74 Said [Abraham]: "Have you, then, ever considered what it is that you have been worshipping 75 you and your forefathers -- 76 They are all enemies to me; all, except the Lord of the Universe 77 “The One Who created me, so He will guide me.” 78 Who gives me food and drink, 79 "And when I am ill, it is He who cures me. 80 And He Who will cause me to die, then give me life; 81 "And who, I hope, will forgive me my faults on the day of Judgment. 82 (And then Abraham prayed): "My Lord, endow me with knowledge and wisdom and join me with the righteous, 83 And ordain for me a goodly mention among posterity 84 and make me of those who will inherit the Garden of Bliss, 85 and forgive my father, for he was among the astray. 86 And disgrace me not on the day when they are raised 87 “The day when neither wealth will benefit nor will sons.” 88 “Except he who presented himself before Allah, with a sound* heart.” (Intact or unblemished.) 89 And the Garden shall be brought nigh to the God-fearing. 90 and hell will be left open for the rebellious ones 91 And it will be said to them, "Where are those you used to worship 92 apart from God? Do they help you or help themselves?' 93 Then the idols and those who strayed will be hurled into the Fire headlong, one upon another, 94 and the hosts of Iblis - all together. 95 There they will quarrel with one another and the erring ones will say (to their deities): 96 "'By Allah, we were truly in an error manifest, 97 “When we considered you equal to the Lord Of The Creation.” 98 And none led us astray except the culprits. 99 We have no intercessors now, 100 Nor a true friend; 101 If we could only return to the world and be among the believers." 102 Verily in this is a Sign but most of them do not believe. 103 Your Lord is certainly Majestic and All-merciful. 104
