Tell them the story of Abraham, 69 He said to his father and to his nation: 'What do you worship' 70 They replied: "We worship idols and are devoted to them." 71 He asked them, "Can the idols hear you when you pray to them 72 Do they help or harm you?" 73 They replied: 'No, but we found our fathers doing so' 74 He said: See now that which ye worship, 75 you, and your elderly fathers? 76 Lo! they are (all) an enemy unto me, save the Lord of the Worlds, 77 Who created me and Who guides me; 78 and Himself gives me to eat and drink, 79 And heals me when I am sick, 80 He who will cause me to die and bring me back to life; 81 “And the One Who, upon Whom I pin my hopes, will forgive me my mistakes on the Day of Judgement.” 82 My Lord, give me Judgment, and join me with the righteous, 83 Make my words come true in the future. 84 And put me among the inheritors of Paradise. 85 and forgive my father, for he was among the astray. 86 And abase me not on the day when they are raised, 87 “The day when neither wealth will benefit nor will sons.” 88 "But only he (will prosper) that brings to Allah a sound heart; 89 And the Garden will be brought nigh for those who ward off (evil). 90 And Hell made visible to those who had gone astray. 91 and they will be asked: "Where are the gods that you worshipped 92 “Instead of Allah? Will they help you or retaliate?” 93 Then will they be hurled therein, they and the seducers 94 and the hosts of Iblis - all together. 95 They will say while contending therein, 96 "By God, we were most obviously astray 97 when we considered you equal to the Lord of the Universe. 98 No one but the sinners led us astray. 99 so now we have no intercessors, 100 nor any loving friend. 101 Would that we had a second chance [in life,] so that we could be among the believers!" 102 Surely in that is a sign, yet most of them are not believers. 103 Verily Your Lord is Immensely Mighty, Ever Compassionate. 104
