Tell them the story of Abraham, 69 when he asked his father and his people: "What do you worship?" 70 They said: We worship idols, so we shall be their votaries. 71 'Do they hear you when you call on them' He asked. 72 Or do they profit you or cause you harm? 73 They said, 'Nay, but we found our fathers so doing.' 74 He said, “Do you see these (the idols) whom you worship?” 75 you and your fathers, the elders? 76 they are all my enemies, not so the Lord of the Universe, 77 who created me. It is He who guides me; 78 and Himself gives me to eat and drink, 79 "And when I am ill, it is He Who cures me; 80 “And He will give me death, then resurrect me.” 81 And He Who, I long, shall forgive me my faults, on the Day of Requital. 82 My Lord, give me judgment, and join me with the righteous. 83 And give unto me a good report in later generations. 84 “And make me among the inheritors of the Gardens of serenity.” 85 Forgive my father. He has gone astray. 86 Do not degrade me on the Day when they are resurrected. 87 The Day when neither wealth nor sons shall benefit 88 "But only he (will prosper) that brings to Allah a sound heart; 89 And Paradise will be brought close for the pious. 90 And Hell made visible to those who had gone astray. 91 It will be said to them: 'Where is that you worshipped, 92 Beside Allah? Can they succour you or succour themselves? 93 So they will be overturned into Hellfire, they and the deviators 94 And the hosts of Iblis, together. 95 They will dispute between themselves therein, and will say, 96 By Allah, we were truly in a manifest error, 97 When We held you (false gods) as equals (in worship) with the Lord of the 'Alamin (mankind, jinns and all that exists); 98 And none has brought us into error except the Mujrimun [Iblis (Satan) and those of human beings who commit crimes, murderers, polytheists, oppressors, etc.]. 99 Now we have none to intercede for us, 100 nor a loving friend. 101 But if we could but once return, we would be of the believers. 102 Surely there is a Sign in this, but most of them would not believe. 103 And verily thy Lord! He is the Mighty, the Merciful. 104
