And rehearse to them (something of) Abraham's story. 69 When he said unto his father and his people: what worship ye? 70 They replied: "We worship idols and are devoted to them." 71 He said, “Do they hear you when you call?” 72 'Can they benefit you or harm you' 73 They said: Nay, we found our fathers doing so. 74 He said: Have you then considered what you have been worshipping: 75 you and your forefathers of yore? 76 They are enemies to me except the Lord of all the Worlds 77 He created me and He will guide me. 78 And He Who gives me to eat and gives me to drink: 79 “And when I fall ill, so it is He Who heals me.” 80 He will cause me to die and will bring me back to life. 81 and He who will, I hope, forgive me my faults on the Day of the Judgement. 82 (And then Abraham prayed): "My Lord, endow me with knowledge and wisdom and join me with the righteous, 83 And ordain for me a goodly mention among posterity 84 And make me of the heirs of the garden of bliss 85 “And forgive my father* – he is indeed astray.” (His paternal uncle) 86 "And let me not be in disgrace on the Day when (men) will be raised up;- 87 The Day whereon neither wealth nor sons will avail, 88 and when he alone will be saved who comes to God with a sound heart." 89 And Paradise shall be brought forward for the godfearing, 90 and Hell shall be revealed to the misguided, 91 who will be asked, "What did you worship 92 Other than God? Can they save you or even save themselves?" 93 So they will be overturned into Hellfire, they and the deviators 94 and the hosts of iblis all together. 95 And they, while contending therein, shall say: 96 "By Allah, we were surely in clear error 97 when we considered you equal to the Lord of the Universe. 98 And none has brought us into error except the Mujrimun [Iblis (Satan) and those of human beings who commit crimes, murderers, polytheists, oppressors, etc.]. 99 We have no intercessors now, 100 and no sincere friend. 101 But if we could but once return, we would be of the believers. 102 Indeed in this is a sign; and most of them were not believers. 103 Verily Your Lord is Immensely Mighty, Ever Compassionate. 104
