And recite to them the story of Ibrahim. 69 when he asked his father and his people: "What do you worship?" 70 They said, “We worship idols, and we keep squatting in seclusion before them.” 71 He said: Do they hear you when you call? 72 or do they cause you any benefit or harm?" 73 They said, “In fact we found our forefathers doing likewise.” 74 He said, "Then do you see what you have been worshipping, 75 “You and your forefathers preceding you.” 76 are my enemies? Not so the Lord of the Universe. 77 "Who created me, and it is He Who guides me; 78 “And the One Who feeds me and gives me to drink.” 79 And heals me when I am sick, 80 "And Who will cause me to die, and then will bring me to life (again); 81 and who, [hope, will forgive me my faults on Judgment Day! 82 My Lord! Vouchsafe me wisdom and unite me to the righteous. 83 And ordain for me a goodly mention among posterity 84 Make me one of the inheritors of the Garden of Bliss 85 “And forgive my father* – he is indeed astray.” (His paternal uncle) 86 “And do not disgrace me on the day when everyone will be raised.” 87 the Day on which neither wealth will be of any use, nor children, 88 Unless it be he, who shall bring unto Allah a whole heart, 89 For, [on that Day,] paradise will be brought within sight of the God-conscious, 90 And Hellfire will be brought forth for the deviators, 91 And it will be said to them, "Where are those you used to worship 92 besides God? Can they help you or even help themselves?" 93 Thereupon they will be hurled into hell - they, as well as all [others] who had been lost in grievous error, 94 and the hosts of Iblis - all together. 95 They will say while contending therein, 96 'By Allah, we were certainly in clear error, 97 when we deemed you [false deities] equal to the Sustainer of all the worlds 98 "'And our seducers were only those who were steeped in guilt. 99 Now we have none to intercede for us, 100 Nor any sincere friend. 101 “So if only were we to go back, in order to become Muslims!” 102 Surely there is a Sign in this, but most of them would not believe. 103 And indeed your Lord – only He is the Almighty, the Most Merciful. 104
