And recite to them the news of Ibrahim. 69 When he said to his father and his people, "What do you worship?" 70 They said, “We worship idols, and we keep squatting in seclusion before them.” 71 (Abraham) asked: "Do they hear when you call them? 72 Or do they benefit or harm you? 73 They said: Nay, we found our fathers doing so. 74 He said, “Do you see these – (the idols) whom you worship?” 75 “You and your forefathers preceding you.” 76 They are all enemies to me; all, except the Lord of the Universe 77 Who created me, and He doth guide me, 78 He Who feedeth me and giveth me to drink. 79 And when I sicken, then He healeth me. 80 And Who causeth me to die, then giveth me life (again), 81 and who I am eager shall forgive me my offence on the Day of Doom. 82 (And then Abraham prayed): "My Lord, endow me with knowledge and wisdom and join me with the righteous, 83 And grant me an honourable mention in later generations; 84 and place me among those who shall inherit the garden of bliss! 85 And forgive my father, for surely he is of those who have gone astray; 86 And disgrace me not on the Day when (all the creatures) will be resurrected; 87 “The day when neither wealth will benefit nor will sons.” 88 but only he that brings to Allah a sound heart will (attain to success)." 89 Paradise will be brought near those who take heed for themselves and follow the straight path; 90 And hell will appear plainly to the erring. 91 and they will be asked: "Where now is all that you were wont to worship 92 “Instead of Allah? Will they help you or retaliate?” 93 Then they will be thrown headlong into Hell, both they and the misguided ones, 94 and the army of satan will all be thrown headlong into hell. 95 They will say while they dispute therein, 96 By Allah, we were truly in a manifest error, 97 when we made you equal with the Lord of the Worlds. 98 It was naught but the sinners that led us astray; 99 And now we have none to intercede for us, 100 Nor any loving friend. 101 Would that we could have a chance to live again so that we might become believers." 102 Surely, in that there is a sign, yet most of them do not believe. 103 And verily, your Lord! He is truly the All-Mighty, the Most Merciful. 104
