And recite to them the story of Ibrahim (Abraham). 69 When he said unto his father and his people: what worship ye? 70 They said, “We worship idols, and we keep squatting in seclusion before them.” 71 He said, “Do they hear you when you call?” 72 Or do they benefit you, or do you harm?" 73 They said, "But we found our fathers doing thus." 74 He said, “Do you see these – (the idols) whom you worship?” 75 you and your fathers, the elders? 76 are my enemies? Not so the Lord of the Universe. 77 Who created me, and He [it is who] guides me. 78 And Who feedeth me and watereth me. 79 and heals me when I am sick. 80 He who will cause me to die and bring me back to life; 81 "And who, I hope, will forgive me my faults on the day of Judgment. 82 (And then Abraham prayed): "My Lord, endow me with knowledge and wisdom and join me with the righteous, 83 And appoint for me an honourable mention among the posterity 84 And place me among the inheritors of the Garden of Delight, 85 And forgive my father. Indeed, he has been of those astray. 86 And disgrace me not on the Day when (all the creatures) will be resurrected; 87 on the Day of Judgment when neither wealth nor children will be of any benefit 88 Except him who brings to Allah a clean heart [clean from Shirk (polytheism) and Nifaq (hypocrisy)]. 89 And the Garden will be brought nigh for those who ward off (evil). 90 and the Fire will be uncovered for those who strayed, 91 who will be asked, "What did you worship 92 besides God? Will the idols help you? Can they help themselves?" 93 "Then they will be thrown headlong into the (Fire),- they and those straying in Evil, 94 and so too the hosts of Iblis, all of them. 95 And there and then, blaming one another, they [who had grievously sinned in life] will exclaim: 96 "'By Allah, we were truly in an error manifest, 97 When we made you equal with the Lord of the Worlds. 98 It was naught but the sinners that led us astray; 99 We have no intercessors now, 100 Nor any loving friend. 101 But if we could but once return, we would be of the believers. 102 There is certainly a sign in that, but most of them would not believe: 103 And indeed, your Lord - He is the Exalted in Might, the Merciful. 104
