(The nation of) Aad belied their Messengers. 123 When their brother Hud said to them, "Will you not fear Allah? 124 Indeed, I am to you a trustworthy messenger. 125 "So fear Allah, keep your duty to Him, and obey me. 126 And I ask of you no wage therefor; my wage is the concern only of the Lord of the Worlds. 127 Do you construct on every elevation a sign, amusing yourselves, 128 and do you take to you castles, haply to dwell forever? 129 When you assault, you assault like tyrants. 130 So fear Allah and obey me. 131 “Fear Him Who has aided you with the things you know.” 132 succoured you with flocks and sons, 133 gardens and fountains. 134 I fear for you the chastisement of an Awesome Day." 135 They said: "It is the same to us whether you preach or be not of those who preach. 136 This is but a fable of the men of old, 137 “And we will not be punished.” 138 So they rejected him; and We destroyed them. There is certainly a sign in that; but most of them would not believe. 139 And verily thy Lord? He is the Mighty, the Merciful. 140
