'Aad denied the messengers 123 when their brother Hood said to them, 'Will you not be godfearing? 124 I am for you an honest Messenger. 125 “Therefore fear Allah and obey me.” 126 "No reward do I ask of you for it: my reward is only from the Lord of the Worlds. 127 What, you build a monument on every hill merely for fun 128 and erect huge palaces as though you will live for ever, 129 When you lay hands upon anyone, you do so as tyrants. 130 So fear Allah, and obey me. 131 "And keep your duty to Him, fear Him Who has aided you with all (good things) that you know. 132 Gave you increase of cattle and sons, 133 And gardens and springs. 134 for, verily, I fear lest suffering befall you on an awesome day!" 135 They said: It is all one to us whether thou preachest or art not of those who preach; 136 That is nothing but a habit of the ancients, 137 We will not be subjected to any chastisement." 138 So they belied him, so We destroyed them. Surely, in that there is a sign; yet most of them do not believe. 139 Surely thy Lord, He is the All-mighty, the All-compassionate. 140
