The tribe of Ad rejected the Messengers. 123 When their brother Hud said to them, "Will you not fear Allah? 124 Indeed, I am to you a trustworthy messenger. 125 Fear Allah and obey me. 126 I ask of you no wage for this; my wage falls only upon the Lord of all Being. 127 Build ye on every eminence a landmark in vanity? 128 And take ye for yourselves castles that haply ye may abide. 129 When you lay hands upon anyone, you do so as tyrants. 130 So fear you God, and obey you me; 131 And be careful of (your duty to) Him Who has given you abundance of what you know. 132 Provided you with grazing livestock and children 133 and with gardens and springs. 134 "Verily, I fear for you the torment of a Great Day." 135 They replied: 'It is the same to us whether you admonish or whether you are not one of the admonishers. 136 This is but a fable of the men of old, 137 “And we will not be punished.” 138 So they belied him, so We destroyed them. Surely, in that there is a sign; yet most of them do not believe. 139 And verily! Your Lord, He is indeed the All-Mighty, the Most Merciful. 140
