(The tribe of) A'ad denied the messengers (of Allah). 123 When their brother Hood said to them: 'Will you not be cautious? 124 "Verily! I am a trustworthy Messenger to you. 125 so fear you God, and obey you me. 126 For this I ask of you no wage, for my wage falls only on the Lord of the Worlds. 127 What, do you build on every prominence a sign, sporting, 128 and erect castles hoping that you will live forever. 129 And when ye seize, ye seize like unto tyrants. 130 So fear God, and obey me; 131 and [thus] be conscious of Him who has [so] amply provided you with all [the good] that you might think of 132 succoured you with flocks and sons, 133 And gardens and springs. 134 Verily I fear for you the torment of a Mighty Day. 135 They said: "It is the same to us whether you preach or be not of those who preach. 136 this is nothing but the habit of the ancients, 137 They rejected him and We destroyed them. 138 And so they gave him the lie: and thereupon We destroyed them. In this [story,] behold, there is a message [unto men,] even though most of them will not believe [in it]. 139 And most surely your Lord is the Mighty, the Merciful. 140

When reading the Colorful Quran in English transliterated Arabic mode, you may not notice that there is an algorithm designed to match the pause requirements of the original Arabic scripture, (waqf signs). As you may know, the original Arabic Quran has five main types of pauses, (waqf) signs. (1) Compulsory break, where the transliteration uses a full stop. (2) Optional pause with the preference for pausing, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a probability of two thirds. (3) Optional stop with an equal preference for pausing and resuming, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a half-half probability. (4) Optional pause with the preference for resuming, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a chance of one third. (5) Attraction pause, also called hugging, or (mu’anaka) sign, where it is compulsory to pause at either one of two nearby positions, but not both; where the transliteration inserts a comma at either one of the two locations with a half-half probability.
