(The tribe of) A'ad denied the messengers (of Allah). 123 When their brother Hud said to them: Will you not guard (against evil)? 124 "Verily! I am a trustworthy Messenger to you. 125 "So fear Allah and obey me. 126 And I do not ask you for it any payment. My payment is only from the Lord of the worlds. 127 "Do ye build a landmark on every high place to amuse yourselves? 128 "And do ye get for yourselves fine buildings in the hope of living therein (for ever)? 129 "And when ye exert your strong hand, do ye do it like men of absolute power? 130 "Be, then, conscious of God and pay heed unto me: 131 Have fear of Him Who has provided you with all the (good) things you know; 132 He hath aided you with cattle and sons. 133 And gardens and springs. 134 Indeed, I fear for you the punishment of a dreadful Day' 135 They said: "It is the same to us whether thou admonish us or be not among (our) admonishers! 136 this is nothing but the habit of the ancients, 137 “And we will not be punished.” 138 And they belied him; so We destroyed them. Verily herein is a sign, yet most of them are not believers. 139 Yet surely your Lord is mighty and merciful. 140
