The people of 'Ad, too, rejected the messengers. 123 When their brother Hud said to them, "Will you not fear Allah? 124 Surely I am a faithful apostle to you; 125 "So fear Allah and obey me. 126 And I ask of you no wage therefor; my wage is the concern only of the Lord of the Worlds. 127 “What! You build a structure on every height, to laugh at the passers-by?” 128 And do you take to yourselves underground reservoirs, in order to live for ever! 129 When you assault, you assault like tyrants. 130 So fear God, and obey me; 131 "Yea, fear Him Who has bestowed on you freely all that ye know. 132 "Freely has He bestowed on you cattle and sons,- 133 and with gardens and springs. 134 for, verily, I fear lest suffering befall you on an awesome day!" 135 They replied, "It makes no difference to us whether you preach or do not preach, 136 This is just a habit of antiquated people. 137 and we shall not be chastised.' 138 In this there is evidence (of the Truth), yet most of them do not have any faith. 139 And verily! Your Lord, He is indeed the All-Mighty, the Most Merciful. 140
