[AND the tribe of] Ad gave the lie to [one of God's] message-bearers 123 When their brother Hud said unto them: fear ye not? 124 Verily I am unto you an apostle trusted. 125 be, then, conscious of God, and pay heed unto me! 126 I seek of you no reward for this; my reward is with none but the Lord of the Universe. 127 Do you build over each high place a sign to amuse yourselves! 128 and raise strong mansions as if you were to live forever? 129 And whenever you apply force become tyrannical. 130 "So fear Allah, keep your duty to Him, and obey me. 131 Have fear of Him Who has provided you with all the (good) things you know; 132 He has given you abundance of cattle and children 133 gardens and fountains. 134 Verily I fear for you the torment of a Mighty Day. 135 They said: "It is the same to us whether you preach or be not of those who preach. 136 This is but a fable of the men of old, 137 And we shall not be doomed. 138 Then they accused him of lies; so We annihilated them. Verily there is a sign in this, but most of them do not believe. 139 And verily thy Lord? He is the Mighty, the Merciful. 140
