(The nation of) Aad belied their Messengers. 123 When their fellowman Hud said to them, “Do you not fear?” 124 "Verily! I am a trustworthy Messenger to you. 125 Therefore guard against (the punishment of) Allah and obey me: 126 "No reward do I ask of you for it (my Message of Islamic Monotheism), my reward is only from the Lord of the 'Alamin (mankind, jinns, and all that exists). 127 Build ye on every eminence a landmark in vanity? 128 And do you take to yourselves underground reservoirs, in order to live for ever! 129 "And when you seize, seize you as tyrants? 130 "Be, then, conscious of God and pay heed unto me: 131 and [thus] be conscious of Him who has [so] amply provided you with all [the good] that you might think of 132 He has bestowed on you cattle, and sons, 133 gardens, and springs. 134 Surely I fear for you the chastisement of a grievous day 135 They said: "It is the same to us if you warn us or do not warn. 136 “This is nothing but the tradition of former people.” 137 And we shall not be doomed. 138 So they belied him, so We destroyed them. Surely, in that there is a sign; yet most of them do not believe. 139 But, verily, thy Sustainer - He alone - is almighty, a dispenser of grace! 140
