Ad cried lies to the Envoys 123 When their fellowman Hud said to them, “Do you not fear?” 124 Behold, I am an apostle [sent by Him] to you, [and therefore] worthy of your trust: 125 "So fear Allah, keep your duty to Him, and obey me. 126 And I do not ask you for it any payment. My payment is only from the Lord of the worlds. 127 Do you build monuments on every high place in vanity, 128 And take ye for yourselves castles that haply ye may abide. 129 When you attack, you attack as tyrants do. 130 Have fear of God and obey me. 131 "Yea, fear Him Who has bestowed on you freely all that ye know. 132 Gave you increase of cattle and sons, 133 And orchards and springs. 134 I am afraid that you will suffer the torment of the Day of Judgment." 135 They replied, "It makes no difference to us whether you preach or do not preach, 136 “This is nothing but the tradition of former people.” 137 "And we are not the ones to receive Pains and Penalties!" 138 So they cried him lies; then We destroyed them. Surely in that is a sign, yet most of them are not believers. 139 Surely thy Lord, He is the All-mighty, the All-compassionate. 140
