'Ad (people) belied the Messengers. 123 Their brother Hud asked them, "Why do you not have fear of God? 124 "Verily! I am a trustworthy Messenger to you. 125 "So fear Allah and obey me. 126 And I do not ask you for it any payment. My payment is only from the Lord of the worlds. 127 “What! You build a structure on every height, to laugh at the passers-by?” 128 And you make strong fortresses that perhaps you may 129 “And when you apprehend someone, you seize him mercilessly?” 130 So fear Allah, and obey me. 131 “Fear Him Who has aided you with the things you know.” 132 "He has aided you with cattle and children. 133 And orchards and springs. 134 “Indeed I fear upon you the punishment of a Great Day.” 135 They said, "Whether you preach to us or not, 136 This has been happening all along. 137 We will not be subjected to any chastisement." 138 And they belied him; so We destroyed them. Verily herein is a sign, yet most of them are not believers. 139 Yet surely your Lord is mighty and merciful. 140
