'Aad denied the messengers 123 when their brother Hud said unto them: "Will you not be conscious of God? 124 Lo! I am a faithful messenger unto you, 125 Fear Allah and obey me. 126 “And I do not ask from you any fee for it; my reward is only upon the Lord Of The Creation.” 127 "Do ye build a landmark on every high place to amuse yourselves? 128 “And prefer strong palaces, that perhaps you may live for ever?” 129 And when you lay hands (on men) you lay hands (like) tyrants; 130 Have fear of God and obey me. 131 And fear Him Who hath aided you with that which ye know. 132 Provided you with grazing livestock and children 133 and gardens, and springs -- 134 Verily I fear for you the torment of a Mighty Day. 135 They said: it is equal unto us whether thou admonishest or art not of the admonishers. 136 This [religion of ours] is none other than that to which our forebears clung, 137 and we shall not be punished." 138 And they denied him, so We destroyed them. Indeed in that is a sign, but most of them were not to be believers. 139 And lo! thy Lord, He is indeed the Mighty, the Merciful. 140
