The 'Aad belied the sent ones. 123 Their brother Hud said to them, "Will you not fear God? 124 "Verily! I am a trustworthy Messenger to you. 125 “Therefore fear Allah and obey me.” 126 And I ask of you no wage therefor; my wage is the concern only of the Lord of the Worlds. 127 You construct monuments on every hill in vain, 128 "And do ye get for yourselves fine buildings in the hope of living therein (for ever)? 129 When you assault, you assault like tyrants. 130 So fear Allah and obey me. 131 And be careful of (your duty to) Him Who has given you abundance of what you know. 132 "Freely has He bestowed on you cattle and sons,- 133 and gardens, and springs -- 134 Lo! I fear for you the retribution of an awful day. 135 They said: It is all one to us whether thou preachest or art not of those who preach; 136 This [religion of ours] is none other than that to which our forebears clung, 137 "And we are not going to be punished." 138 So they gave him the lie, then We destroyed them. Most surely there is a sign in this, but most of them do not believe. 139 Your Lord is Majestic and All-merciful. 140
