Ad cried lies to the Envoys 123 Their brother Hud said to them, "Will you not fear God? 124 Verily I am unto you an apostle trusted. 125 so fear you God, and obey you me. 126 And I ask of you no hire therefor: my hire is but with the Lord of the worlds. 127 Do you build monuments on every high place in vanity, 128 Erect palaces (thinking) that you will live for ever, 129 When you assault, you assault like tyrants. 130 “Therefore fear Allah, and obey me.” 131 Have fear of the One who has bestowed upon you all that you know. 132 Provided you with grazing livestock and children 133 and gardens, and springs: 134 Surely I fear for you the chastisement of a grievous day 135 They said, "Whether you preach to us or not, 136 This is naught but a custom of the ancients; 137 and we are not going to be chastised [for adhering to it]!" 138 So they cried him lies; then We destroyed them. Surely in that is a sign, yet most of them are not believers. 139 Yet surely your Lord is mighty and merciful. 140
