[AND the tribe of] Thamud gave the lie to [one of God's] message-hearers 141 when their brother Salih said unto them: "Will you not be conscious of God? 142 I am a trustworthy Messengers sent to you. 143 So keep your duty to Allah and obey me. 144 For this I demand no recompense from you; my reward is only with the Lord of the Universe. 145 Do you think that you will be left secure [forever] -- 146 in the midst of gardens and fountains, 147 sown fields, and palms with slender spathes? 148 You hew dwellings in mountains and exult in that. 149 Fear Allah and obey me 150 Do not obey the orders of the transgressors 151 those who spread corruption on earth instead of setting things to rights!" 152 They said: You are only of the deluded ones; 153 You are but a man like ourselves, so bring a sign, if you should be of the truthful." 154 He said: "Here is a she-camel; it has a right to drink (water), and you have a right to drink (water) (each) on a day, known. 155 Do not touch her with malice so that punishment of a dreadful day seizes you' 156 But they hamstrung her, then regretted; 157 So the torment overtook them. Verily, in this is indeed a sign, yet most of them are not believers. 158 And verily thy Lord! He is the Mighty, the Merciful. 159

قراءة القرآن مترجماً إلى الإنجليزية أو أية لغة أخرى أشبه بقراءة كتب التفسير من قراءة ترجمات حرفية.
Reading the Quran translated into English, or any other language, is more like reading books of interpretation than reading literal translations.
