The people of Lut belied the sent ones. 160 When their brother Lot said to them: "Will you not take heed? 161 I am a trustworthy messenger to you: 162 So fear Allah and obey me. 163 I do not ask any payment for my preaching. I shall receive my reward from the Lord of the Universe. 164 What, do you come to male beings, 165 instead of your wives, whom your Lord has created specially for you? You are a transgressing people." 166 Said they: "Indeed, If thou desist not, O Lot, thou wilt most certainly be expelled [from this township]!" 167 He said, "I certainly hate what you practice. 168 “My Lord, rescue me and my family from their deeds.” 169 So We saved him and all his people, 170 Except an old woman (his wife) among those who remained behind. 171 and then We utterly destroyed the others, 172 And We rained upon them a rain [of stones], and evil was the rain of those who were warned. 173 Verily in this was a sign, but most of them do not believe. 174 And lo! thy Lord, He is indeed the Mighty, the Merciful. 175
