The people of Lut gave the lie to the apostles. 160 when their brother Lot said to them, 'Will you not be godfearing? 161 Surely I am a faithful apostle to you; 162 so fear you God, and obey you me. 163 I seek of you no reward. My reward is with none but the Lord of the Universe. 164 What! Of all creatures do ye come unto the males, 165 "And leave those whom Allah has created for you to be your mates? Nay, ye are a people transgressing (all limits)!" 166 They said: "If you do not desist, O Lot, you will be expelled (from the city)." 167 He said: Surely I am of those who utterly abhor your doing; 168 'My Lord, save me and my people from that they are doing' 169 Then We delivered him and all his family 170 Except an old woman (his wife) among those who remained behind. 171 We then destroyed the others. 172 And We rained on them a rain. So ill was the rain on those warned? 173 Indeed in this is a sign; and most of them were not Muslims. 174 And verily thy Lord! He is the Mighty, the Merciful. 175
