Then the people of Lot rejected the messengers. 160 when their brother Lot said to them, 'Will you not be godfearing? 161 Indeed, I am to you a trustworthy messenger. 162 so fear God and obey me. 163 I ask of you no wage for this; my wage is only with the Lord of the Worlds. 164 Do you, of all people, approach males, 165 “And leave the wives your Lord has created for you? In fact you are people who exceed the limits.” 166 'Lot' they replied, 'if you do not desist, you shall be thrown out' 167 He said: verily I am of those who abhor your work. 168 My Lord, deliver me and my family from their wicked deeds." 169 Thereupon We saved him and all his household 170 except an old woman who was among those that stayed behind. 171 then We destroyed the others, 172 And We rained on them a rain (of torment). And how evil was the rain of those who had been warned. 173 Surely, in that there is a sign. Yet most of them do not believe. 174 Your Lord is Majestic and All-merciful. 175
